PREPARATION PROCEDURE FOR
LITTLE TOT BUMPER
BOATS
The floatation tube is made of very durable and tuff PVC
material. Because of the heavy wall
thickness and material hardness, minimum air pressure is required. The tube should be inflated so that it
feels firm to the touch. Never
inflate the tube so that it feels “rock hard”. If a low range pressure gauge is
available, it should be used to determine when the tube has been inflated to 2-½
-3 psi. NEVER INFLATE TO MORE THAN 3 psi AT ANY ONE TIME!!!
Note: The nature of vinyl is to stretch to some degree based on the ambient temperature. After the initial inflating of the tube and the initial stretch, the air pressure will probably drop-off to 2 – 2 ½ psi which is fine for operating the Little Tot Bumper Boats.
Step 2: Assembly of Fiberglass Boat to the
Tube
The fiberglass boat assembly will be placed into the center of the tube. The boat merely rests on top of the tube and is not fastened or secured. The weight of the body, battery and rider is supported in the water by the tube.
Note: The tube can be placed in the water with the valve stem either on top or bottom.
Step 3: Installing the Battery into the Battery Compartment
(A) Remove the vinyl-upholstered seat by pulling up on the seat. The seat is held to the body by (2) strips of Velcro.
(B) Lift up and remove the fiberglass battery box cover. Move the battery cables to the side of the box so that they will not interfere with the battery.
(C) Install the battery into the case. Be careful not to drop the battery into the case, slowly and carefully lower the battery into the case.
Note: The recommended battery of choice is a Gel battery, Deep Cycle, 12-volt series. A specific battery recommendation would be the Trojan Model SG-50-B. Battery characteristics: 9 ¾”L x 5 ½”W x 9”H with an approximate weight of 38 lbs.
(D)Check that the On/Off switch on the back of the seat is in the off position. Connect the battery cables. Make sure that proper connections are secured.
Step 4: Reassembly
Replace the battery box cover and secure the upholstered vinyl seat back into the proper position.
Preparation is now complete. Before using or operating the boats, it is IMPERATIVE to thoroughly review the complete boat and understand “Rules of Safe Operation.
OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR
BUMPER BOATS
Step 1) Loading and unloading assistance for the riders should be a mandatory condition of operating the ride. NEVER...REPEAT…NEVER allow children to get in and out of the boats by themselves.
Note: The suggested method of operating the Little Tot Bumper Boat ride is to have an attendant(s) standing in the water. The attendant picks up the child and places them into the boat. When the ride is over the attendant once again picks up the child and places them on the outside of the pool.
Step 2) Before starting the ride it is important to review the Rules of Safe Operation with the child.
Step 3) Once the rider(s) have been properly instructed and are familiar with the boat’s operation the attendant can start the pump by switching the ON/OFF switch to “ON”.
Note: The “ON/OFF” switch is located on the backside of the seat. NEVER ALLOW THE RIDER TO START THE BOAT. THE RIDE MUST BE STARTED BY THE ATTENDANT ONLY.
Step 4) When the ride cycle is complete the attendant should turn the “ON/OFF” switch to the “OFF” position.
Note: When the “ride cycle” is complete and the attendant has stopped the boat, the child should be picked up by the attendant and placed on the outside of the pool.
CAUTION: NEVER…REPEAT…NEVER allow the child (rider) to stop the boat and get out of the boat by themselves.
IMPORTANT: Ride attendant(s) must always be present while the ride is accessible to the public. Full time supervision is mandatory to assure that the ride is operated in a safe environment.
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
FOR
LITTLE TOT BUMPER
BOATS
Pertaining to the
Pump
Daily inspection of the pump’s condition and routine inspection of the electrical connections is advisable.
Note: Make sure that the inlet area of the pump is not restricted or clogged.
Battery
Inspection
Routine inspection of the battery and the condition of the charge should be considered essential for a successful operation. A fully charged battery is important to assure that there is reserve power to get through the “peak” periods.
Fiberglass Boat
Visual inspection that all fasteners and guards are in place. Never operate the boats without the battery cover and seat in their proper position.
It is important to do a visual inspection of the fiberglass checking for cracks or rough surfaces that might cause harm to riders.
·
Thoroughly
read and familiarize yourself and all attendants with the operator’s manual
before operating the Little Tot Bumper Boats.
·
Never
allow children to operate the boats by themselves. This operation requires “FULL TIME”
adult supervision.
·
Never
Charge the batteries when customers or by-standers are anywhere near the
charging area.
·
Never
recharge batteries while the batteries are enclosed in the
boats.
·
Always
disconnect and remove the battery from the boat when working on the electrical
system or the pump motor.
·
Make
a routine check that all nuts, bolts, screws and fittings are
tight.
·
Never
operate the boat with any covers or guards missing.
·
Never
allow observers, swimmers or by-standers to be in the water while Bumper Boats
are operating.
·
Never
allow multiple riders in the Bumper Boats.
They are designed for a single rider only.
·
Children
operating Bumper Boats should be seated at all times during the ride and remain
seated until removed by the attendant.
·
Loading
and unloading of the boats must be done by the attendant. Never allow children to enter or depart
the boats by themselves.
·
Never
allow “Standing or Kneeling” in the Bumper Boats.
·
Never
allow children to reach over the side of the boats or into the
water.
·
Never
allow children to start or stop the ride.
·
Unusual
or excessive noise should be checked immediately. Shut off power to the pump and review
all components.
·
Maximum
rider capacity is 85 lbs.
·
No
food or drinks are allowed while in the Bumper Boats.
·
Signs
must be posted that adults assume responsibility of risks when allowing their
children to ride Bumper Boats.
·
Never…Repeat…Never…
leave
the ride activity unattended for any length of time.
·
It
is advisable that attendants be well versed in First-Aid as well as C.P.R. when
operating any ride with children, especially around a water
environment.
·
Always
record and keep complete records and accident reports when they involve personal
injury. No matter how slight the
injury seems at the time, it could be crucial at a later
date.
·
Always
make certain that any electrical source near a water environment complies
completely with all electrical codes.
Ground Fault Protection is a
MUST!
